About Groove

Groove is a unique dance workout that allows you to move freely and express yourself. It can be modified for any fitness level, and the Five Groove Truths ensure a judgment-free and inclusive environment.

The Five Groove Truths

1) No on cares what you look like – and if they do it is THEIR problem.

2] Your way is the right way – YOU CAN’T GET IT WRONG!

3) You are unique – you should look different than me or anyone else in class.

4) No one can do it for you – this workout is as hard or as easy as you make it.

5) None of these principles work unless you put them into practice

MY STORY

Grooving changed my life

Several years ago, I participated in Misty Tripolis’s Discover your Groove workshop. Since that time I have learned to embrace myself as I am - a person who is perfect just the way I am.

I am a 56 year old woman who has struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I am also coping with multiple autoimmune conditions which can make it difficult to maintain my health.

My health has improved so much, my blood pressure is lower, my cholesterol is normal, my blood sugar is normal and the level of inflammation my autoimmune diseases cause is significantly reduced. I have lost 90 pounds and dropped multiple dress sizes. In my opinion, the weight loss is due, in large part, to the acceptance of myself I achieved. I stopped thinking about the weight and started thinking about feeling good - and that meant more grooving!

I have learned that I can’t get it wrong, it is impossible for me not to smile when I pony and that I can do anything if I can find the right modification. I recently was able to do jump squats and jump lunges for the first time….in a LONG a time. I could barely jump up and down when I started.

I have more fitness areas to conquer and I still have days where I struggle to love myself, but now I get on the dance floor and groove instead of engaging in self destructive behaviors.

I could go on and on about the mental, physical and spiritual benefits I am seeing, from this program…so much so that I decided to become a facilitator. I love helping my participants practice the groove truths and move forward on their own personal journey's.
